Deputies preempt theft
OLD FORT - Law enforcement authorities are investigating an incident involving the alleged theft of a vehicle and attempted theft of anhydrous ammonia.
According to law enforcement, Jeffrey P. Holsinger, 30, stole a vehicle, picked up Keith A. Turner, 45, of Fremont, went to the house of Scott B. Lemaitre Sr., 50, also of Fremont, and started walking to a local farmer's property to steal the ammonia, which is used in the production of methamphetamine.
Early Saturday morning, Lemaitre and Turner were charged with receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony, after they used the vehicle to find Holsinger, according to officials.
Lemaitre and Turner were incarcerated at Seneca County Jail Saturday.
Authorities were unable to find Holsinger near the scene early Saturday morning.
A spokeswoman at Sandusky County Sheriff's Office said Holsinger had not been apprehended as of Saturday night. Holsinger had not been charged as of Saturday night, officials said.
