Funding to refill Perry Lakes down the drain?

A project using waste water to refill two Perth lakes may be about to go down the drain.

The Town of Cambridge wants to restore the Perry Lakes in Floreat to their former glory.

The lakes are part of Bold Park which is an A-class nature reserve larger than Kings Park.

The two lakes have dried out in recent years, which in turn has caused negative impacts to the local environment.

A plan developed a few years ago by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation and the Water Corporation proposed using waste water from the Subiaco Treatment Plant to boost the lakes.

The Water Corporation currently pumps 22 gigalitres of water a year from the plant into the ocean south of City Beach.

The project would see up to 1.8 GL of that water diverted into ground water trenches near Perry Lakes, which would boost ground water levels, thus raising the water table and refilling the two lakes.

Last year the Federal Government announced it would fund $2.6 million towards the project.

Truly trouble-free Baquacil conversion • Baquacil - Use and ...

I struggled for over 6 weeks with a conversion from Baquacil to chlorine. I was very disciplined about testing and using the Pool Calculator to maintain the 15ppm FC level. My water cleared up within a week, but the CC level never dropped off. It just stayed between 4 and 9 ppm for weeks. I tried replacing the filter sand and making sure everything was spotless - still no joy two weeks later. So by draining and refilling, I was able to do in about 3 days, with very little effort, what I couldn't do in 6+ weeks of constant work and large quantities of liquid chlorine. Total cost for the failed "traditional" conversion: $80 in chlorine, $50 in testing supplies and 50+ hours of labor....

Used ATF+4 in place of SPIII, shifting problems ensued ...

I recently drained and refilled (not flushed) the trans fluid in my '04 Stratus Coupe, 2.4 with the Mitsubishi 4 Speed F4A42 transmission. Mileage is 72K, and I previously had the fluid done around 35Kish range. I know with a drain and refill, a certain percentage of fluid stays in the torque converter, but I’m not too concerned. The dipstick says use SPIII. I read that ATF+4 was approved for all Chrysler and Mitubishi transmissions. Some other comments I read were: I drained the fluid, and replaced it using SPIII, or Castrol IMPORT MULTI–VEHICLE . I drove around 50 miles, and did another drain and refill. Shifting is a lot smoother now, I guess I would even say back to normal. I plan to do another drain and refill in the near future, which...
