I think that you have a lost cause. Keeping cats out of any area is a matter of doors, not gates---they can jump high and propel themselves even higher. I have a few suggestions.

Many expectant parents with pets often consider whether or not it is in the best interest of their baby to keep the family pet. Parents may be relieved to hear that they may not have to get rid of their pet in preparation for baby’s arrival.
According to a report released Monday in Clinical & Experimental Allergy, early exposure to the family pet may have unintended benefits.
In a study funded by the Fund for Henry Ford Hospital and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease researchers found that adults who as children were raised with cats during their first year of life had about half of the risk of developing allergies to these animals later in life.

The following is a combination of opinion and some factual matter.
The telescoping sections don’t meet in the outside wall of my house which uses 2″ x 6″ (actually 1.5″ x 5.5″) studs.
The molded plastic which appears to be ABS is a bit thin. The outside section broke away from the house in -40 degree weather. I have a “dog house” built onto the outside of my house which is open on both ends with a plastic strip door on the outboard end and this pet door on the inboard end to keep winds out. This door replaced an older brand that was actually larger than this door and I only have a couple of Border Collie mixes from a shelter. I’m not sure if larger dogs would be happy with this product. Shelter dogs are the best.
